The sales of stakes in the eight Hundred franchises are “in the final straight”, according to the competition’s managing director Vikram Banerjee, who has said that discussions between the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and investors are in “a really good place”.
English cricket is set for a substantial financial injection after agreements were reached in February to sell stakes in The Hundred’s eight teams. The auction process raised UK£520 million (US$696 million), valuing the franchises in the ECB’s 100-ball competition at close to UK£1 billion (US$1.3 billion) cumulatively.
American consortium completes Leyton Orient takeover - BBC Sport - April 25th
American consortium GSG LOFC Limited has completed its takeover of Leyton Orient, the League One club have confirmed.
The consortium, which is fronted by New York-based businessman David Gandler, has completed a 100 per cent takeover from Eagle Investments 2017 Limited, the club's previous owner, with Gandler owning 78.55% as the majority shareholder.
Rangers in ‘productive conversations’ with US-based consortium over takeover - Stirling News - April 23rd
Rangers have confirmed “productive conversations” with a US-based consortium aiming to complete a takeover of the club.
It emerged in February that American insurance firm owner Andrew Cavenagh and the 49ers Enterprises had been in talks since late 2024 about acquiring a controlling stake in Rangers.
Real Salt Lake and Utah Royals sold to Miller family in ‘US$600m’ deal - SportsPro - April 22nd
The Miller family have acquired a controlling stake in Major League Soccer’s (MLS) Real Salt Lake and the National Women’s Soccer League’s (NWSL) Utah Royals.
The Millers, the former owners of the National Basketball Association’s (NBA) Utah Jazz, and Miller Sports + Entertainment (MSE) are purchasing the two franchises from David Blitzer in a deal that also includes MLS Next Pro’s Real Monarchs and the Real Salt Lake Academy, as well as America First Field, Zions Bank Stadium and Zions Bank Training Center.
Dave Checketts, Eccles Family Form $1.2B Private Equity Sports Fund - Yahoo! Finance - April 21st
Dave Checketts, along with the Eccles family of Utah, are combining to create a sports focused private equity fund that plans to invest more than $1.2 billion. It will be called the Cynosure | Checketts Sports Capital Fund.
The fund, announced Monday, is meant to target investments across several elements of the sports industry, including teams, leagues, facilities, technology and media ventures; specific investment pursuits have yet to be announced. It will have offices in New York City and Salt Lake City.
