WILLOW BAY, BOB IGER TO BUY NWSL’S ANGEL CITY IN $250M DEAL - Sportico - July 17th
Los Angeles power couple Willow Bay and Bob Iger have reached an agreement to purchase a control stake of NWSL club Angel City FC in a deal that values the team at $250 million.
Bay, who is dean of the USC journalism school, and Iger, who is CEO of Disney, are buying equity held by a number of Angel City minority owners. Bay will become the team’s primary governor and have control of the board, according to a statement issued Wednesday morning.
New WNBA Media Rights Deal Worth Over $2 Billion, per Report - Sports Illustrated - July 17th
On Tuesday, Mike Vorkunov of The Athletic reported the WNBA's next media package is worth about $2.2 billion over 11 years. It was negotiated by the NBA amidst its own gigantic media rights deal, and negotiations were held with the same networks— meaning TNT is out of the W game, too, unless its parent company exercises its right to match the offers made to the leagues.

Tech entrepreneur Mark Arena has agreed to buy National Basketball League (NBL) team the Perth Wildcats.

Lewis Hamilton ‘in talks’ to buy Gresini MotoGP team - Sports Pro Media - July 2nd
Seven-time Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton is in talks to purchase the Gresini Racing team in MotoGP, according to The Race.
The Ducati satellite team, currently owned and operated by Nadia Padovani, is seen as a good investment opportunity following the news that Liberty Media will acquire MotoGP in a €4.2 billion (US$4.5 billion) deal.
Ownership group of NBA champion Boston Celtics is putting team up for sale - Yahoo! Sports - July 1st
BOSTON (AP) — The ownership group that controls the NBA champion Boston Celtics says it intends to sell all its shares of the team.
In a statement released Monday, Boston Basketball Partners LLC said it intends to sell the majority of its shares in 2024 or early 2025. The balance of its shares would then close in 2028.
Wyc Grousbeck, whose family leads the ownership group, is expected to remain the team’s NBA governor until the sale is complete.
Larry Ellison’s Sailing League Gets Brazil Expansion Team Owned by Mubadala - Yahoo! Finance - June 21st
Mubadala Capital, an asset management firm owned by Abu Dhabi’s sovereign wealth fund, has acquired an expansion team in the international sailing competition SailGP.
In a deal set to be announced Friday, the new team will represent Brazil as the league’s 11th team and its first squad from South America. It will be operated by IMM, a Brazilian sports and entertainment firm led by former Olympic sailor Alan Adler. Financial terms of the agreement weren’t disclosed.
